If you're short on time for one the longer walks then try this enticing little walk along narrow, winding corridors of spruces, pines, alders, and larch.
A short walk through the beautiful Heritage Forest Area beginning at the Herdsman's Avenue gate on Jollies Pass Road. Follow the 'Forest Walk' through some of the oldest stands in the Hanmer Basin.
At the first junction turn left to meander through European larch planted in 1904. A feature of this section is the understorey of ivy.
A further left turn leads the track through 1978 plantings of Ponderosa pine to return to the car park.
It's possible to link this walk with Dog Stream Reserve and also back into Hanmer Springs as there are two signposted accessways.
